Why FileChange Exists
File conversion should be simple, fast, and private. Most online converters upload your files to remote servers, require an account, and charge for basics like batch processing. FileChange is different: every conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
How It Works
When you drop a file in, the browser reads it locally and passes it to the right engine. Images use the HTML5 Canvas API; video and audio use FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly; documents use libraries like mammoth.js and SheetJS. The converted file is generated in memory and downloaded directly — no data ever leaves your browser session.
What We Support
FileChange supports 170+ conversion pairs across images, video, audio, and documents. You can also merge PDFs, compress images, resize images, and convert images to grayscale.
Privacy
Because conversions happen client-side, we never have access to your files. There is nothing to encrypt, store, or delete — your files exist only on your device, only during the conversion.
Free and Open
FileChange is free to use. Convert as many files as you like at once without creating an account. File size is limited only by your device's available memory.
